New Emergency Management Telecommunication System for Colleges and Universities

After many years of research and development EMTEL has teamed with the Florida Institute of Technology (FIT) to implement the first integrated and comprehensive solution for Campus Emergency Notification called SchoolCall911®. This very specialized solution utilizes many of the functional features of the RESPOND® “Total Solution for Catastrophic Emergency Management Telecommunications”. Since students, faculty, employees and visitors can be disbursed over large areas of the campus, several telecommunication technologies had to be merged and activated by one command panel to insure that all individuals located on the campus be notified in time to prevent casualties where possible.

The SchoolCall911® Campus Solution includes but is not limited to: FM Broadcast, Cell Phone Broadcast SMS, Cell Phone Calls, Land Line Phone Calls, Pager Activation, Electronic Sign Activation, wireless and wired E-mail, FAX Broadcast, Exterior Siren and “Outer-Com” Notification, Intra-Building Intercom messaging, TDD for hearing impaired, Internet Collaboration, and automated push button conferencing.

The entire integrated notification can be activated by the EMTEL PyrAlert911™ command notification system which is wireless, fast, mobile, robust, redundant, and friendly. The notification package is them sent to any of several EMTEL call centers for execution and delivery. Having redundant front ends and redundant call centers eliminates single point failures and provides the level of reliability necessary thwart terrorist attempts at sabotage and avoid severe weather outages. Any of the thirteen delivery technologies can be switched on or off prior to notice activation. Real time feed back can be generated on the phone system deliveries and a live compliance or injury survey can be generated.
